Plastivision: First plastic industry exhibition of India granted full membership of UFI

Plastivision India, a plastic exhibition organized by the All India Plastic Manufacturers' Association (AIPMA) in India, became the latest Indian exhibition to be granted full membership by UFI, the international exhibition industry association based in Paris. It became member in the Exhibition Category. Plastivision is the first plastic industry exhibition of India granted full membership of UFI.

The full membership grant by UFI is a key milestone for both AIPMA and its Plastivision event, which achieved its 9th edition. The recent exhibition, Plastivision India 2013, was organized at the venue NSE Complex, Goregaon (E) in Mumbai during 12th to 16th December. It was 9th in the list of Plastivision events, which are being organized once every 3 years in India. The first of these events was organized in 1992. Since then it has been held in the years, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2011 and the latest in 2013. The next event is to be organized in 2017 starting from 19th till 23rd of January in Mumbai.

The 9th edition had 1,500 exhibitors involved in the event, growing from 1,000 in the 8th edition. The number of exhibitors had grown exponentially after the 5th edition which saw 325 exhibitors. Plastivision had an estimated 100,000 plus business visitors with participants from 40 countries. The various material industries/sectors exhibiting in the event included plastic extrusions; thermoplastics, films, thermoforming; additives, colorants, masterbatches; chemicals and raw materials; and fine chemicals and petrochemicals. It also included several equipment and machinery providers like plastic packaging machinery and equipment; machinery & equipment for processing recycling; moulds & dies; pre & post processing machines; lamination and coating machines; testing and measuring equipment; injection and blow molding machines; bag and sack making machines; mixers, crushers, grinders and extrusion line machines; and auxiliary machines.

The Plastivision event is supported by the Export Promotion Council of India (EPC), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Indian Institute of Packaging, Plastindia Foundation and by the Indian Government and various state Governments. Plastivision was started in 1992 while AIPMA was established in 1945. All India Plastic Manufacturers' Association is the largest apex body in India engaged in development, promotion and growth of the Indian plastics industry. The body is spread over more than 120 cities and towns in India and has 27 Indian associations; both National and Regional affiliated to it. AIPMA is also one of the founding promoters of Plastindia Foundation, established in the year 1987.
