Indian Automobile Industry News April 2015

The first month of the new financial year 2015-16 did register some widespread growth for the automobiles, which saw most of its segments growing. April 2015 ended with growth in production, sales and exports. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released figures for the month of April 2015, automobiles sales grew by 1.9%, while production and exports grew by 2.55% and 7.66% respectively.



Indian Automobile Production Statistics April 2015 The Passenger Vehicles sales grew by a handsome 15.83% in April 2015 compared to April 2014. The passenger cars sub-segment had an impressive growth of 18.14% while Vans also increased their sales by 19.69%. The Utility Vehicles saw a comparatively low, but still a good growth of 7.0%.

Indian Automobile Production Statistics April 2015 The growth in Commercial Vehicles was also a decent one at 6.48%, with the Medium & High Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) sub-segment continued its impressive growth at 24.94% while the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) segment registering a negative growth of -3.82%. The passenger carriers sub-segment of M&HCVs grew by 14.39% while the passenger carriers in LCVs grew by 3.13%. The Goods Carriers sub-segment of M&HCVs grew by 27.36% while that of LCVs declined by 4.96%.

Indian Automobile Production Statistics April 2015 The Three Wheelers segment had a sales decline of 2.33% in the April 2015, with both Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers declining by 2.68% and 1.05% respectively. The Two Wheelers segment also declined marginally at 0.16% in April 2015. Scooters and Motorcycles had a growth of 5.38% and 9.88% respectively while Mopeds declined by 2.77%.



Indian Automobile Production Statistics April 2015 Automobile exports in April 2015 were up 7.66% over April 2014. Passenger vehicles registered 20.87% higher exports in April 2015. Within this segment, exports of passenger cars rose by 21.70%, utility vehicles exports rose by 14.23% while exports of vans grew a whopping 165.33%. Commercial vehicles exports grew a good 19.87%, with M&HCVs growing by a moderate 3.69% and LCVs exports rising by 30.26%. Export of three wheelers grew by 79.24% but in two wheelers, exports declined by 5.27%.
