Indian Automobile Industry News November 2014

Automobiles domestic sales for the month of November 2014 rose 5% with passenger cars clocking 9.5% sales growth. For the period April-November 2014, domestic sales grew by 10%. The domestic automobiles production growth for the same period was 11.7% while for November 2014, automobile production growth was just a notch higher at 12.4%.

The Passenger Vehicles segment sales growth was 5.4% for November 2014 compared to November 2013, with passenger cars growth at 9.5%. Utility Vehicles had declined at 6.8% while Vans growing at 2.4%.

The Commercial Vehicles registered a growth of 9.05% in November 2014. Within this segment, M&HCVs registered an impressive growth of 40.14% with Goods Carriers growing at 49.43% while Passenger Carriers declining at 9.07%. In the Light Commercial Vehicles segment, the overall growth was negative at -2.08%, with Passenger Carriers growing at 15.65% and Goods Carriers having a sales decline of 3.26%.

Three Wheelers sales growth in the same month was moderate at 3.14%, with Passenger Carriers barely growing at 0.86% and Goods Carriers registered growth of 12.27%. The Two Wheelers segment grew at 4.89% in November 2014. The Two Wheelers sub-segments i.e. Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds registered a growth of 26.49%, -3.05% and 11.79% respectively in November 2014.

The November 2014 growth in automobile exports was 31.98% over November 2013, while for the period April-November 2014 the sector grew by 21.31%. The growth in November 2014 across the segments was quite good, with Passenger Vehicles growing at 25.4%. Commercial Vehicles grew by 15.54%, Three Wheelers by 72.37% while Two Wheelers grew by 28.6%.
